Luevenia Gardner Was Over The Moon Happy To Have Finally Found Her Forever Person In Henry Taylor. She Had No Idea He Was A Deranged Psychopath, And How Callously He Would Take Her Out Just Weeks After Her Dream Wedding.
When 34 year old Leuvenia Gardner met 30 year old Henry Taylor in the Spring of 2020, she was ecstatic they both love the same core things. They enjoy the same meals, they enjoy taking trips and doing adventurous things, and they enjoyed karaoke-ing with friends. And did I mention sex? Because they both enjoyed having great sex and was very open about their sex life. And because of all that, Luevenia overlooked some major red flags that would eventually lead to her death.
On February 8, 2021, just days after their wedding as they were having a meal together as they often do, they decided to turn it into a mukbang going live on their separate Facebook page and sharing their intimate moment with their viewers. But not long after, Luevenia realized it was a bad idea, but she didn’t hop off. And that live gave us a glimpse into their lives how they talk and interact with each other in long disparaging banter, with Henry’s blatant disrespect and disregard taking center stage, and Luevenia’s instantaneous attempt to cover it over and appease him – rendered futile.
In the early morning hours of April 16, 2021, on the quiet street of South Hoxie Avenue in South Deering Chicago, Luevenia and Henry got into their usual disparaging banter which escalated into a domestic dispute. However, they were able to de-escalate and disengage before coming to blows, and Luevenia went off to bed. But as Henry remained in the living room mulling over the spat they just had, he began seething with rage as he was not happy about it. And being the unhinged person he is, he went off in a fit of rage.
He grabbed his lighter fluid and barbecue lighter and walked into the bedroom. And as Luevenia lay there sleeping peacefully, Henry doused her entire body with the lighter fluid and lit her on fire – watching her burn. And as the flames began to spread reaching Luevenia’s skin, she woke up dazed and in pain. And as she realized what was happening – that she was literally on fire, she jumped off the bed and ran to the bathroom while trying to get her clothing off. And as she stumbled in the shower trying to get some ease from the pain, it wasn’t helping much. Her skin was beginning to melt over her fingernails, and her hair extension were fusing to her skin. So she dashed outside in the street and ran 2 blocks to the engine 81 firehouse, banging on the door with all she had in her.
When the firefighters opened the door and saw her they were horrified, but they quickly rushed her to Trinity Hospital as Luevenia explained to them that her husband poured lighter fluid on her body, and lit her on fire. Scared and frightened she asked them if they thought she was going to die, and told them she knew her husband would try to kill her, and that she should have left him a long time ago.
Meanwhile, Henry was in the house calling Luevenia’s mother, sister, and brother, and telling them what he had done to Luevenia. He then went into hiding. Authorities later secured a search warrant and searched their home, where they found a bottle of lighter fluid almost empty as well as a barbecue lighter.
The examiner’s office later revealed Luevenia suffered second and third degree burns to 70% of her body with burns beyond her skin’s surface damaging tissues, muscles, and tendons. And sadly after going through surgery and skin grafting repairs, she died a month later on May 21st at the University of Chicago Medical Center where she had been transferred to, because her body could no longer sustain the damage that had already been done.
Henry later turned himself in to police on May 26 2021, confessing to his most horrendous crime and telling them “he wasn’t even that close to her and she went up in flames”.
He was charged with first degree murder and is being held without bond at the Cook County Jail pending his trial, with his next court date scheduled for December 9, 2024. And I hope he will be convicted and severely punished for the pain and agony he put Luevenia through.
Luevenia and Henry had an obsession with hurting people in their sleep. She threatened to hurt him in his sleep, and after closing her eyes and going to sleep, he hurt her in her sleep in the most horrendous way.
It’s never a good idea to dwell in the “danger zone” of a relationship where built-up resentment and unresolved issues exist with each other. If the relationship isn’t working, it is best to make a clean cut – meaning get out right away, than to remain in limbo in a back and forth, on again off again, now we’re speaking now we’re not – situationship, that could lead to an outcome as this.
