41 year old Ashley Nolan is one of the latest victims in the slew of wives that have been murdered by their husbands in recent months. On August 12, 2024 at around 9pm in Indianapolis Indiana, Ashley and her 43 year old husband Thomas Nolan had a domestic dispute which escalated to physical violence. Their teen daughters who were present tried to intervene to help their mother – one called 911 while the other tried to get her dad away from her mom. But Thomas became furious and shot them both. And as Ashley tried to escape and ran outside for help Thomas pursued her and shot her dead in their backyard before turning the gun on himself.

The couple had been married for 18 years and produced two beautiful daughters – Jillian and Delaney, who are both recovering among their closest family members and friends after spending more than a week in the Riley Children’s Hospital. One of the girls was shot twice in the chest and once in the hand according to family members, and the other was shot twice in the hip and required more surgery. Thomas had recently resigned his job in May of this year, but it is unclear if that played a role in what has transpired.
According to neighbors, they were a lovely family who was always smiling and seemed happy and they have never heard them argue, so nothing could have prepared them for this deadly ending.
Ashley and her family were a part of a huge church family who thankfully are now rallying around the Nolan girls in prayer and support for their full and continued recovery.
In a statement released by the family on August 16th, they gave thanks for the outpouring of support they have received and most importantly gave thanks to God that the two girls were saved:
“First of all, my family would like to say thank you for the constant outpouring of love and support from family, friends, the church and from total strangers. We feel your prayers and your love for us. Your giving is truly amazing, and you are a blessing to us during this tragedy.
The family is currently in shock and disbelief, very sad, but we are resting in God’s grace and miracle for saving the lives of Jillian and Delaney. We are focusing our energy towards the two girls so they have everything they need.
As a result of this tragic incident, Ashley will not see her daughter’s graduations, she will not see them grow into beautiful women, or will she see them walk down the aisle as brides, she will not become a grandmother and hold her grandchildren. She will not continue to be a loving and faithful wife. She will not continue to be a loving sister, a niece, a supportive aunt or best friend to others.”
It’s hard to imagine the pain and devastation the girls must be experiencing, having their mom and dad with them for years only for them both to be gone within seconds, and to know that their own dad took out their mom. They will definitely be needing lots of therapy to get through this tragedy, which I’m sure their family will ensure they get.
