Dramatic video shows woman escaping her kidnapper and running for dear life! She had been held against her will for 2 and a half months, during which she endured extreme abuse and as seen in the video she was running with a slight limp. She apparently had some issues including drug abuse and food insecurity when she met Walter Medina who offered to help her, back in January in Tampa Bay Florida. She accepted the help and trusted him, but after he took her to his house he would not let her leave and he beat her with a baseball bat, punched her in her face, and dug holes in her body with a screwdriver amongst other things.
She was able to escape on Monday April 1st, 2024 after her kidnapper left her unattended in his van while he went into Walgreens in Hillsborough County, Seffner to grab a few items. She quickly ran to a nearby gas station across the street at the corner of MLK Boulevard and Lakewood Drive, and head straight to their bathroom while shouting at the workers to please call 911. She was so traumatized and wanted to ensure her freedom, she locked herself in the bathroom and did not come out until the authorities came, in around 20 minutes, and she was sure they were indeed authorities and she would be safe.
According to the gas station clerk, “She was screaming and crying saying ‘I need help’ ‘I need help’ as she ran to the bathroom and locked herself in. Her face was swollen, she had black eye, all her face was beat up so bad.”
Authorities have not released her name, but she was taken to the hospital for treatment, and she is now safe and will be getting financial help as well.
While authorities were there at the scene they saw a gold vehicle circling the area as if looking for someone, and when they approached he took off and took them on a high speed chase only stopping after crashing into a car and then a concrete area where authorities were able to apprehend him.
This man has a criminal history dating back to the 90’s, as you can hear the officer explaining in the video saying, “He’s no stranger to us.” He spent 4 years in prison in 2010 after being charged and convicted with the same crime – aggravated assault and false imprisonment. And it was the same crime he spent time in prison for in the 90’s after being charged and convicted – aggravated assault and false imprisonment. This means this is his 3rd known time doing this – his modus operandi, and I hope there is a way to lock him away for good so that he will not be able to do this to any other woman, since this seems to be all he does.
He is currently being held at the Orange County Jail facing second degree murder charge, armed kidnapping, armed false imprisonment, aggravated battery, as well as reckless driving, fleeing officers, and hit and run charges.
