Marayna Rodgers Thought She Was Going On A Prostitution Date With Her Friend Sakari Harnden, She Had No Idea She Was On Her Way To Her Own Murder Scene. She had been engaging in prostitution since meeting her boyfriend Tremaine and Sakari, and Sakari would often setup appointments for them both. So on December 1st 2023 when Sakari told Marayna to get to Las Vegas for a date they would be having with N.B.A players which would yield $4000 in one night, Marayna did just that. Her boyfriend Tremaine and long time friend Garrett drove her to Las Vegas knowing she would be engaging in prostitution. But while Marayna was looking forward to the date and also hanging out with her friend Sakari in Vegas, Sakari was busy plotting her murder with N.B.A player Chance Comanche, and avoiding Marayna. Chance, who said they both dated a short while but remained in touch, was duped into helping Sakari murder Marayna. Sakari knew she had that effect on Chance as she later told authorities Chance would do anything for her. So she lied to Chance telling him a story that Marayna is planning to kill her, so she needed to kill her first. Chance believed and agreed.
So after his basketball game on the night of December 5th, Chance and Sakari met up and they had already sent an invitation to Marayna via Chance pretending that he would be their Trick for the night for $1000.
Marayna’s friend Garrett dropped her off to Sakari and Chance, and Marayna was never seen again by him. They stopped at a liquor store picked up liquor then went to a cul-de-sac. While there, Sakari told Marayna that Chance wanted to have “kinky sex” which would require him tying them up.
After removing her clothing while still sitting in the front passenger seat of Sakari’s car, Marayna voluntarily gave Sakari her hands to zip-tie them together. Sakari who had already removed her clothing, sat on Marayna’s lap straddling her, while stretching her hands out towards the back seat where Chance was sitting behind Marayna’s seat, and pretended to have Chance zip-tie-them. As Sakari was doing that, Chance slid an H.D.M.I cord around Marayna’s neck and began pulling both ends tightly.
As Marayna realized what was really happening and started screaming and moving in her seat trying to escape, she soon realize there was no escape. Sakari was sitting on her zip-tied hands with her body holding her head in place and there was no way she could escape.
As Marayna began to struggle to breathe Chance loosen the cord and gave up on the mission, but Sakari was intent on getting Marayna off the face of the earth. When Marayna got out of her car that her friend was driving, and walked over to Sakari’s car, Chance was seeing Marayna for the first time, and he thought “she does not look like the type of person Sakari described to him. She did not look like she was about ‘that life’”. So this may have been the reason he could not go all the way through with murdering her, but Sakari took over and made sure Marayna was dead.
They then laid Marayna’s seat back a bit to make it look like she was sleeping, while they drove around Nevada looking for a place to dump her body. They found a place miles away in Henderson, Nevada and dump her body covering her with rocks, then drove back to Chance’s hotel room, after stopping at a Winco Store and purchasing a few choice items – lemons, limes, salt, and a kitchen knife.
Authorities were able to recover their very detailed murder plot via the text app Telegram, and Chance had no option but to confess and tell them where Marayna’s body was. Authorities then went and got her body, and they were able to get surveillance footages of Marayna’s last moments shortly before she was murdered.
Chance and Sakari have since been charged with murder and are being held without bond at the Clark County Detention Center, pending their trial.
